We are The Centre For Sustainability

An independent think tank building a sustainable future through research, collaboration and real-world action.

The Centre for Sustainability brings together organisations, communities, researchers and future leaders to explore the challenges and opportunities shaping a more sustainable future.

Through research, programmes, initiatives, events and thought leadership, we seek to generate knowledge, encourage collaboration and support practical action that creates meaningful environmental and social impact.

We believe sustainability is not just about today’s actions, but the legacy we leave behind - ensuring progress that benefits both people and the planet for generations to come. Our mission is to help transform ideas into action, foster positive change and contribute towards a more inclusive, resilient and sustainable future for all.

Centre for Sustainability Hushneara Miah

When I founded the Centre for Sustainability, my vision was simple: to create a platform that brings people together to explore the challenges shaping our world and identify practical ways to create positive change.

Over the years, my work across business, sustainability, education and community engagement has shown me that lasting impact rarely comes from working in isolation. It comes from collaboration, shared knowledge and a willingness to listen, learn and act. The Centre was established to provide a space where research, ideas and experience can come together to support meaningful progress.

Today, the Centre for Sustainability continues to evolve through research, programmes, initiatives, events and thought leadership. By connecting individuals, organisations and communities, we aim to inspire action, encourage collaboration and contribute towards a more sustainable, inclusive and resilient future for all."

Dr Hushneara Begum, Founder of Centre for Sustainability

What is Sustainability

Sustainability is the practice of meeting our current needs without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own. It is a holistic approach that balances environmental protection, social equity and economic growth to create a thriving, resilient world.

The United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)
To guide this global effort, the United Nations established the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in 2015. These 17 interconnected goals serve as a shared blueprint for peace and prosperity for people and the planet. With a target date of 2030, the SDGs represent an urgent, universal call to action to end poverty, combat climate change, reduce inequality and ensure a sustainable future for all.
